Counselling and Pyschotherapy for individuals

People seek out counselling or psychotherapy for a variety of reasons.

It could be that there is a clear issue to address that can be fairly easily resolved through talking.

Often the issues are unclear and confusing.

We may be behaving in ways that are worrying us.

We may be feeling low, anxious, not in control of our emotions, dissatisfied with life.

We may be struggling to carry out day to day activities, have problems with appetite and sleeping.

Taking time to unravel our experiences and feelings in the safe space of the counselling room can transform what we think are intractable problems and reduce our feeling of isolation and hopelessness.

These issues may involve

  • Relationship difficulties
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Childhood trauma
  • Loss or Bereavement
  • Workplace stress.

Acknowledging that we may have problems that are affecting our lives is a significant first step towards making a change.

Making contact with a counselling service with a view to sharing and gaining support is another significant step in approaching things differently.

Therapy offers a regular opportunity to reflect on our lives with a trained professional, to identify what is at the core of our difficulties and find meaningful solutions that will work for us. We will not tell you what to do or judge you.

Most people refer themselves for counselling or psychotherapy by contacting the Centre directly.

Recommendations may also be made for talking therapy by your GP.

Several of the therapists at the Centre are registered with different Employee Assistance Programmes which provide therapy funded by the employer.

It is also possible to gain funding through Health Insurance if you have it. Several of our therapists are registered with BUPA ,AXA, AVIVA and other insurance companies.

All therapists offer an initial meeting as described in their profiles.
