Privacy Notice
At the Dunton Centre we are committed to respecting your right to privacy and protecting your personal information. This is a summary of what we do with your information in order to provide our counselling and psychotherapy service; including what information we collect and hold, why we collect this data, how long it is kept for and what rights you have over your personal data. The Dunton Centre is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), reference ZA401299.
Information About You
We collect and process various types of information from you when you enquire about our counselling service in order to set up an initial appointment. This information includes contact details, your availability and other relevant sensitive personal information. We will store this securely and control who has access to it.
If you are allocated a counsellor at the Dunton Centre we will pass the information you have given us to them and they will let you know how they will store your information.
When a client finishes counselling all data regarding their counselling will be stored securely for a maximum of seven years and then destroyed.
When you enquire about workshops, courses, talks or other activities at the Dunton Centre we will ask you for contact details and relevant personal information that we need in order to answer your enquiry and to keep you informed about future events that may be of interest to you. This information is stored securely for as long as you agree to be kept informed of activities at the Dunton Centre.
How We Use Your Personal Information
Your personal information will only be used to provide you with our services and to give you information about our services. We will use it to contact you, to arrange appointments for you and to find the right counsellor and type of counselling to suit you.
We recognise that the information you provide may be sensitive and we will respect your confidentiality. We will not share it with any other external person or organisation without your knowledge and consent unless there is a legal requirement to do so, if there is a child or adult safe guarding issue or a perceived risk of harm to you, to us or someone else.
Security
We will take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information that you give us.
We may send emails to you in connection with this service. These will not be sent in encrypted form unless you require that and give us consent to communicate with you in that way. Email unless encrypted is not a fully secure form of communication. Whilst we will endeavour to keep our systems and communications protected against viruses and other harmful effects we cannot guarantee that all communications will be virus free.
Your Rights
You have a number of legal rights to control what we do with your information. For example you can ask us to tell you what information we have about you and get a copy of it; correct or update information that is wrong and stop using information in certain circumstances. Please note that in some cases asking us to do this may mean we are no longer able to provide you with our services.
